These thoughts are shared by beloved Battlestar galactica alum Katee Sackhoff who played Kara Thrace aka Starbuck on Ronald D. Moore’s reimagined series who recently shared her reaction to the news of the show's cancellation.

Hiya, NC. Hey, when he started out, it was being said that he was focusing more on he classic series and NOT Moore's. So, that got our attention. But the moment Moore's series was brought up, all us legacy fans dropped away, so interest dwindled quickly. I am shocked it took this long to pull the plug.

Caprica not only explored the origins of the Cylons, it described the culture of one of the twelve colonial planets. What we need are stories that explore the history of the different planets before and during the Cylon war.

I wish they made the show in the past during the 1st Cylon War

It’s nice to hear that a studio didn’t go forward with a sub-par series to protect the legacy. If only Disney and Amazon could do the same!

Considering what Hollywood does to great works these days, we should all thank the good Lord that it got cancelled. They would have completely wrecked it. Just look at what they've done to Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. Who would have thought you could screw up those franchises? But boy, they sure did.

I really don't want to see ANY known IPs turn into shit from modern Hollywood. Some people may have the best of intentions, but I have absolutely no trust in the system to let them fulfil these intentions to the small or big screen.

I'd rather we have nothing than see our beloved books, series, films turn into shit.

Thank god. BSG new and old are in a great place. We don't need a BSG "for the modern audience".

I was really looking forward to returning to that universe even if it was a prequel or something.... still it may be a blessing in disguise.

BSG (and Stargate) need to be left alone so they are not ruined like Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr Who, etc.

Rather than the typical money grab prequels, sequels, re imagining and retconning? I'd like to see some fresh ideas and stories. The second BSG series was one of the rare times when an update worked. Leave it be.

As stated in the video, the reboot would involve "...moving away from the heavy metaphysical, philosophical and religious themes." of the previous iteration and "Instead embracing a lighter, more action-oriented space opera style." Translation: A huge budget heavy on CGI and DEI while removing any depth or thought provoking content. Gee, I'm so sorry this isn't being made.

I agree. "BSG: Blood And Chrome" should have gone to a series with the movie (web series) serving as its pilot. Comcast/NBC Universal made a huge mistake because they were too afraid, read: too cheap to fund it.

For a hopefully original idea, I had thought, only just recently in fact as of this typing, that a story set in another star system could feature a set of classic characters such as the Borellian Nomen, along with a new generation of Cylons that set out trow hopefully intercept the remnant of Colonial Humans from the Cyrannus System.

Don't want another excellent series destroyed by a modern day, message filled remake, continuation, whatever. Make something NEW Hollywood.

I want a better, up to date version of the original. Humorous, but not cheesy. Not men in suits. The remake was brilliant, bar the weird supernatural bit, but that should be left alone.

Somehow given the cyclical nature of the Human-Cylon conflict it seems like any "reboot" could potentially either follow any alternate colony that was "abandoned" as they create their own Cylons or a lost colony meets the Cylons (from the finale) and either; A) turn the free Cylons into slaves or B) accidentally enrage the Cylons. These events could easily happen as an "offscreen" variant of the 2003 series between letting the machine Cylons roam free and the time-skip of the finale, especially as they could be akin to the Greek gods from Kobol and "explain" the other pantheons.
If the series continues as an alternative or expansion the lack of the "ancient aliens" concept that Larson used in his version likely works better, especially as it didn't seem as contrived and made it seem more human-centric in the themes than creating weird directions for the show to go into. Outside of Larson's premise that the Cylons were machines created by lizard-like beings that turned on humans, most of the '78 version seemed better when it was focused on the interpersonal interactions for the Colonials.
Would love to have seen which direction Esmail was going, where it would fit, and how it would meld the traits of the '78 and '03 versions of BSG

I really enjoy your videos - they're a pure discussion of ideas which is intriguing and refreshing.
