This guy takes his job so seriously 😂 he needs to narrate horror stories not horse races. I got chills watching this purely due to the way he talked

Just think, if War of Will had won and then still won the Preakness, the Belmont would have been a lot more important. Instead, we ended up with probably the most unpopular Triple Crown season ever.

The video doesn't lie, the jockey lost control of the horse when he was "scared" jump off the rail two lanes, and impeded another horses path. It's pretty straight forward. The decision took forever because it's the Kentucky Derby, you can tell the nervousness in that little room with the stewards. What's not shown is the steward lady, making a few phone calls while they are doing the review, probably calling important higher ups at the track to notify them before this huge decision is public. This was not easy even though the video is cut and dry.

the two horses suffered the worst while humans were fighting for money

What we should be "reexamining" is the 1980 Preakness Stakes, where
Genuine Risk comes around the corner and Codex jockey looks back realizing he
won't win, so he hits her in the nose a few times, causing her to come in second.
She did however win the Derby, technically won the Preakness and came
second in the Belmont. Best a filly has ever done.

Max had so much potential but ofc he got put into the wrong hands smh

When they showed the move that got Max disqualified, I thought there was going to be an accident on the track even though I knew what the outcome was. I'm with the people who disqualified him because that could have turned very bad, very quickly

Given Servis' shady career and the fact that War of Will could've been killed, I think they made the right decision. The way the pack was close together at the turn made it so that if Maximum Security had gone any far out multiple horses and jockeys would've been seriously injured. The fact that Servis administered illegal drugs to horses since just makes it all the clearer that Derby officials made the SAFEST decision.
I also respect Country House. Even if the race had gone smoothly, the odds were so incredibly against him that second place would've been a triumph. That horse ran amazingly, and I think more people should respect that as well. I'm sad he got so sick. He deserves to have his name on Churchill Downs. He won officially and that's that.

Welp..if Maximum Security had not been disqualified, the whole drug thing would still have come to light. Imagine his downfall if he had been at stud already - hundreds of mares carrying a foal that may be sired by a derby cheater.

I love this horse he’s a fighter, he never gives up

There was obvious interference in this race, but what is extremely rare is that a jockeys' inquiry was actually accepted. I've watched a lot of races. Stewards' inquiries are usually successful, jockeys' inquiries are usually not.

No blame for either beautiful animal again the human fails
To me they are both champions ♥️♥️

It was the right call. This happens at the racetrack periodically. Inquiries/dq are part of horse racing.

Of course he was fouled. The winner was taken out at least two lanes.

How was the issue surrounding the winner being disqualified so a 65-1 can be declared winner not investigated? If I was ANY US attorney that would be my first question.

I was there, in the grandstand, and I remember watching them come around the turn into the stretch and thinking, “he is ALL OVER THE PLACE!” He very clearly interfered.

I love how people think this isn't commonplace on the racetrack.

I wasn't sure if I was watching The Derby or Saturday night Live

Did anyone notice the three very best jockeys didn't rode in this years Derby isn't this suspicious especially knowing that neither any of these outstanding jockeys have never won the Derby except for Saez who won but lost it in the stewards room

The Stewards are normally asleep during the Race and you need to ring them to wake them up.
