I was wondering why the CX500 does not default to SIP sign-in which only require IP address of the phone is assign, the extension and the password. Cisco Call manager server, Asterisk, and etc...are usually engineered to be cluster servers to back up each other if one or two servers fail or if their is a power failure. Is there a Patch or a final firmware update to take all the security Lync Server is setup with and allow for a basic SIP sign in/handshaking protocol. For example, the phone is looking for Lync server code/identification versus generalize SIP server.
