Jaime Yassif Remarks for the Second Global COVID Summit

NTI Vice President of Global Biological Policy and Programs, Jaime Yassif, commends the hosts of the Second Global COVID Summit for leading a discussion on actions towards building better health security.

The past two years have shown the devastating impacts that a bio threat can have on human health, economies, political stability, and security. NTI believes that national and global leaders can more effectively prevent and mitigate future bio threats by targeting critical resources to the places where they are most needed and where they can have the greatest impact low and middle income countries.

Objective external assessments like the Joint External Evaluation and Global Health Security Index can empower national governments and donors to more effectively target resources to address critical gaps and to advance pandemic financing to address the next pandemic.
