That was a Mother's Day activity. Schools in Thailand usually invite moms (or dads if it's Father's Day) to participate.

In Thailand, we give traditional flower wreaths to those whom we respect, e.g. monks, elderly, parents, and some statutes (Buddha, Hindu gods). And we prostrate at someone's feet as an ultimate act to show gratitude, respect, or apology. We don't do it often though, mostly for some specific occasions like Thai traditional new year, Mother's Day, or one's birthday.

I don't think children around June's age really understand all aspects of such activity, but they know for sure this is one way of showing their love to their parents.
