Another great video. Regarding the difference between "free" RAM and "available" RAM, I think that this can easily explained like this: "Free" is the amount of memory that is not used at all. But it is possible that in some cases this won't be enough (e.g. if opening a big application), and in this case, Linux can reclaim some of the memory that is used as buffers and cache and "give" it to the new application. And that's why "available" is bigger than "free". It is the "free" memory + the amount of memory that is currently used for buffers and cache and can be reclaimed if needed. I do agree however, that you would like to look, in general, only on the free value, since you would like to allow the system to use as much memory as it needs for buffers and cache.

I've a 8 thread CPU like you and a 4k screen. When playing a Youtube video on chrome in ubuntu 22.04 my CPU maxes out whereas windows can play 8k without no considerable cpu usage. What do I do? How do I get my GPU to do stuff?

I'm using dual boot with Win10, with 16GB of RAM, but free command shows only 8GB.
Is there any reason for it?

tried the free command and it shows that I have more ram in my swap (7.6 GB) than I do in my entire system (5.0GB), what gives.
