I like how the stopmotion looks more realistic and lifelike, but the mouth animation in the CGI was very good!

Ironically the stop motion looks more real and smooth. The facial expressions and extra effects looked better in the cg though. I always thought a nice blend of practical and special effects always end up looking best.

This was amazing! The plot itself is a little creepy and reminds me vaguely of the Purple Guy in the Spring Lock Suit… but I absolutely loved the recreation! Very well done!

Dude I remember watching that stop motion all the time as a kid, and nowadays I’m a blender artist too! So to see this fusion of both was a great experience for me, awesome job 👍

The stopmotion brings me back to the days where faces never moved and it was up to our imagination to interpret expressions.
CGI does just that with a little more gloss and glare.

Fun fact: for the lego movie to make the 3D animation realistic, they had to export the frames on the video and mount them as they're like photos of a stop motion animation.
So that's technically stop motion. Then they also used good lightning and small details like fingerprint on surfaces but that's another story

On 3D Animation you can get more Details but the stop motion feels very organic! Both very good!

Wow, that's an impressive piece of work!
I wish the faces were not animated, that would have made it really difficult to tell the difference for some scenes.
But of course that doesn't change the fact that this is a wonderful animation!

the attention to detail in the beginning is great, if you look closely, in the cgi version, you can see the smooth studs get replaced with normal studs
