Using Digital Data Capture to transform agriculture

Показать описание
Digital technology and data science are revolutionizing farming, and Syngenta is at the leading edge. By pioneering the use of digital data capture (DDC), we are gaining brand new insights into the ecology of farmers’ crops around the world. Our ambition for DDC is to harvest every grain of data in our R&D experiments, leaving no insights in the field.
Cutting-edge digital cameras and sensors are mounted on different vehicles, including drones, tractors, and hand-held devices. DDC allows us to turn digital images into data at very high resolution to quantify detailed crop or pest effects (e.g., health, biomass, count, height).
This data then empowers our Crop Protection Biology teams to make better in-season decisions and use this high-quality data to develop solutions for farmers that are not just tailored to their needs but also available to market faster.
This powerful data, available for the first time, will be an incredible tool in supporting regenerative agriculture. This approach enables farmers to grow more food on less land while improving biodiversity, reducing carbon emissions, waste, and precious resources like water.
