Baby Scratch Mastery | Scratch With Me #1

Scratch With Me is a series where you practice your scratching with me!

So it works like this. I’ll play a beat, and I’ll do a specific scratch combo for the first 8 or 16 beats, then I’ll stop, and let the beat just play.

And when I stop scratching, it’ll be your turn to start scratching.

So scratch for about 8 or 16 beats, and try to emulate the scratch combo I did.

Once you’re done scratching, I’ll come back in, and I’ll do a new scratch combo, and we’ll repeat this whole process for a couple of times.

Now for this first scratch with me, we’ll focus on working on our baby scratches and forward scratches

Scratch pattern #6 completely blew my head up. I've got both platters turned to -15% and I still can't nail the fader control between the baby and the forward- but sucking at something is the first step to being kinda good at something. DJ Carlo, thanks for this really fantastic set of tutorials- They're super useful and deserve way more views out there!

With so many 'beginner' scratch tutorials that start slow and then go from 0 to 100, the learning curve is very steep. They mean well but I'm literally starting at point zero & don't have any peers or teachers to do call and response with. This shit is so fkn frustrating man!!! And then there's dj shortee & qbert and you; The only 3 dj's I've found so far that understand how to break it down to a level that's approachable and allow me to follow and progress. After 3 days practice 2 hrs a day I finally got this one down with both hands at 0.75 speed. Not much but to me means a lot thnx. If anyone knows drills similar to this help me out
