There are customers that come late when its about to close and they feel like we are supposed to wait for them to finish shopping before we close. Customer is always right but on this case I beg to disagree.

I loved when I became a sales floor supervisor at KMart before they all closed. I would make the closing announcements, and I made NO exceptions. If you did not bring your items to the front checkouts by the time the store closed, then you did night make your purchases and you did not leave as a happy customer. Too bad... so sad. "The time is now 9PM and your local KMart is now closed, the registers are shutting down and you may return tomorrow to make any purchases you need. Thank you for shopping KMart." 😊

And this is why no one wants to work retail. I never have and I never will underpaid and under appreciated by customers and management. Thank you to all the retail workers. Some of us appreciate and respect you and would never do this to you.

I used to make a 15 minute announcement, 10, 5, and the closing announcement. After that, if they won’t leave, I happily make an announcement stating we are closed. People never cease to amaze me.

Almost all stores as a courtesy keep the tills open a few minutes late. Workers don’t all clock out at closing because there is still lots to do such as stocking, inventory, cleaning, etc.
however, I have been in store on occasion that say “the checkouts will be closing in five minutes and the registers turned off. Please make your purchase now or come back tomorrow.”

That's why I hated retail. I worked at a SaveALot that would stay open if we had shoppers and would even write you up if it was after close and someone was inside and you locked the doors so no one else could try to come in. Like are you serious???

Same thing for restaurant workers when people come in 5 minutes before closing expecting full meals for their whole family

At my local grocery store, we would lock the door at closing time and make the announcement the store was closed and all check outs would be closed and turned off in fifteen minutes, 10 minutes and 5 minutes. Then we would turn off the AC in South Texas) and slowly start to turn off the lights. Anyone left in the store after 15 minutes would be told they needed to leave or there would be charged with trespassing.

Nope. We close at 9. AMF. But yes I did let a dad in to buy Pedia lite for his sick kid. He ran to it and ran to the register... jerks like this get kicked out at close...
