PYRA (2021) is an original song composed by Theodore Koumartzis on an acoustic-electric LUTHIEROS Lyre of the Sarcophagus with 13 strings.
The unearthly melody tells the story of the Incendiu Magnum Romae, i.e., the Great Fire of Rome that occurred in July 64 A.D. and was burning out of control for almost three days. When it was eventually put down, two-thirds of the city was destroyed, with most districts reduced to ruins.
As the legend says, Nero, the Roman Emperor, played a lament on his lyre while the city was burning to the ground.

The melody is titled after the ancient Greek word "πῦρ", meaning "flame-colored, red fire." In Greek mythology, Pyrrha (Πῠ́ρρᾱ) was the daughter of Epimetheus and Pandora and wife of Deucalion.
