Here is my review of the Norrøna Lofoten Gore-Tex Pro Jacket. I have really enjoyed it so far and like it better than my Arc'teryx jackets for multiple reasons, which I discuss in this review. Thanks for watching!

The wrist gaiter frayed then failed over the 1st season of use. Norrona tried to repair it, but ultimately, they gave me a voucher for the full cost of a replacement on their website. The whole process was quick and easy. A+ on warranty and customer service.

The warranty is awesome. My son has a discontinued Lofoten insulated kids jacket and the main zip failed after three years. They replaced it free of charge ensuring another happy customer.

I have made the switch as well. I live in Boulder, Co where you can walk down one street and try on every major brand in their flagship stores (which I have done) and I keep finding myself back in the Norrona store to make my purchases. I have the pants that matched just this jacket and I believe you can zip out the powder skirt and directly zip into the pants with that same zipper…. Although you should ask a rep on that because I’m not 100%. Super slick design, extremely satisfied with their products.

Great review! Actually you will get 7 years warranty if you sign up to Norrøna’s loyalty program. Just a tip 😉

I made the switch over from Arc’teryx too. The Norrona hardshell are definitely superior imo.

I have been eyeing this jacket for a long time. Perhaps I will sell my beta AR and get this. Arcteryx goes really well in the secondary market.

Great review, thank you! What size did you get, did you size up? I had a Rush in L but based on your review I have the feeling that I should get a Lofoten in XL size due to the cut.

Do you happen to know the difference with between a pro and pro plus version? Many thx!! Martijn

What is the downside of this jacket compare to the Pro Plus model? I am sure Plus version is more durable and rigid?

At first i also loved the feature on my Ortovox with the removable thing... but i recognized, i really never use it for other things than skiing. So it always stays in the jacket.
Especially cause i don't like the pockets while hiking or biking for some reason. Guess mostly cause i just know it while skiing.

Good interesting video. Helps searching for the next freeride/touring jacket.
I really got "issues" with the possibilities of the pockets with a lot of jackets i looked at/tried it on.
This seems really good with that. Basically everything i need is in the jacket.

I got the Norrona Loften regular Gore-Tex jacket for $400 on sale and it is amazing with amazing quality.

should compare it to the Sabre SV which just made a return as their most durable ski shell this season. its N100D gore tex pro most rugged all around the jacket like the Alpha SV. about 900 dollars, so similar in price to this jacket. I just received it a few days ago and it exceeded my expectations in terms of quality. Does this brand have RECCO per chance? I saw that the newer hard shells from arcteryx have the RECCO radar thing built in to the jacket in case of emergency scenarios which is extremely important when doing any back country skiing.

Hi just found your channel and your content is sick! I love how direct your videos are especially the precious one “sabre vs rush” I watched! Regarding the jacket raising up your body when lifting your arms with the beta, this is because it’s more for hiking. If directly compared with the alpha I don’t think you’d have the same drawback :)

Mammut Eiger Free Pro HS is on par as well. Have a bunch of Norrona midlayers and a Falketind shell but couldn't resist the deal on the Mammut.

A great comprehensive review. I've recently come across Artilect formation jacket which seems to be great jacket with a lot of well thought out set of features. Would love to see a comparison between that jacket and this Norrona. Anyway, keep doing great reviews!

That was a very well produced and presented video!
I was looking at the Alpha/Beta SVs and alternatives and I came across this.
I have a question: Do the pit zips go down low enough to *comfortably* enable access to the 'hand warmer' pockets of a mid layer e.g. Cerium?
