'Help me' sign leads to rescue of kidnapped girl

A 13-year-old girl kidnapped in Texas and sexually assaulted was rescued in Southern California when passersby saw her hold up a “help me” sign in a parked car, police and federal authorities said. The rescue occurred July 9 in Long Beach, south of Los Angeles.

Something isn't adding up here. How does a 13 yesr okd just get up and kidnapped. Then the supposed kidnapper decides to drive around with her in the car. Not getting rid of anything that can be used as a sign of distress to others...
This girl isn't telling the whole truth of how she came to be in this guys car. Perhaps I am wrong, but my gut feeling is there is more to this story than the cliche "danzel in distress".
