One of the earliest rockabilly records to hit the charts, 'The Fool' by Sanford Clark. Written by Lee Hazlewood (apparently) and with Al Casey on guitar. Strangely the record was a bigger hit in the 'black' Rhythm & Blues charts then a Pop or C&W hit. Those were confusing times.
Al Casey stole the riff from Howlin' Wolf's 'Smokestack Lightning'.
A haunting drinking song on Dot Records 15481 in 1956.
