I'm a big fan of that size rock base for wet clay (RR ballast). You can always skim cover with something finer to doll it up.

That fabric is amazing stuff. Gravel on top of it will pack down like concrete. I love some geo-fabric.👍🏻

Nice to see backspreading over geotextile fabric. It’s how I learned and I’ve seen so many trucks on YouTube front spread over fabric.

Good video. How come you stopped the fabric under the rock? Maybe I missed it if you explained it.
A lot of places around here are bad soil so we use the fabric to keep the rock from disappearing into the mud. That red clay looked like good base.
