New Mobile Updates Are Here!

An improved mobile experience has arrived! This week, we will begin rolling out to all users new mobile updates, including:
✧ Midnight theme
✧ Supercharged search
…and so much more

LISTEN TO YOUR COMMENTS. The overwhelming majority of your users hate this new UI. The old UI worked wonderfully because it's layout reflected and emphasized discords core functions- and was essentially tailor made for it (albeit, adapted a little for mobile.) The new layout is a mimicry and reflection of other social Media platforms, and doesn't complement discord in the least bit.

These updates have been in Beta for what, 7 months now? And after all this time- there has NEVER been an outpour of praise for the new layout. Some of the new features, sure. But there has only been an absolute CASCADE of irritation for the new layout. DONT LISTEN to the people you hired from Meta, and other platforms, the design philosophies for those apps absolutely do not translate well Into adapting discords core features

I get that you guys have sank a lot of time, effort, and funding into making this update- but this is one of the situations where you NEED to just eat the cost of it's development and just Go Back. You're going to alienate the ever-loving hell out of your millions of users in the pursuit of probably only gaining a few hundred thousand. It's not worth it. Those few hundred thousand are always going to primarily use those other apps that you're trying to emulate because that's where all of their friends are, they're not going to migrate and make discord their main social hub.

My friends and I actually took the time to scroll through this comment section, reddit, and other places talking about this update. And I'm not exaggerating when I say this. For every one positive comment about the UI change. THERE ARE A 100 NEGATIVE COMMETNS against it. (not exact numbers but it is genuinely really close.) So listen to your active users that have been with you for so very long. We love discord because of it's functionality and how it pairs so well with our activities in gaming and online spaces. It's previous layout and user experience was perfectly suited to the task, and adapting other social medial platforms user interface shows just how horrendous something can be when adapting something that doesn't have any inherent compatibility.

The new layout is EXTREMELY hard to use and makes everything complicated. The old layout was so much better and it wasn't confusing at all. Discord changed something that never needed fixing.

Dear discord, we'd appreciate it if you bring the old discord back. Everything got harder. LAGGIER, everything got worse. now you made discord look like every messaging app you'll ever see. change it back I'm not gonna get used to this update.

Discord is the number one company at dishing out pointless updates that nobody asked for. Every pointless change made in the past two years has slowly made the platform worse.

I really don't understand the idea behind this update. I saw in the description that they were worried about the mobile app feeling like a downsized desktop, but for me that's the whole point of Discord mobile. It doesn't treat phones as less than computers like other apps. Very bizarre decision. Not out of step for them, though, sadly

Honestly, a few days before this update, I was mentioning how even though there's a new UI layout on mobile, Discord hasn't really forced anyone to switch to it, and that's actually quite nice of them.

PLEASE add an option where you can go back go the old layout if you wish! I really don't like how the new update is organized- and many others do as well. There's really no point to the update in my opinion. Either switch back, or let people go back to what they've always enjoyed, I really think that so many people would be happier this way

There should be a feature to toggle between the old and new layout because the new layout feels really clunky. And the option to choose the previous dark mode should also be accessible as well because it feels too dark now, to where it actually hurts my eyes kinda

A story as old as time itself. A social media platform, seemingly different and more practical than the rest, which starts with its creators and executives listening to and engaging with the user base, out of sudden transforms into another soulless corporate product that is no different from the rest. It happened with Facebook, it happened with Youtube, it happened with Twitter, how did you not see it coming this time for Discord?

The most insulting fact is that the only option resembling a way to go back to the old UI is a setting called "classic chat text size" that makes the text *slightly* smaller

Horrible update makes me feel isolated and unaware of what’s happening in my servers. I can no longer easily swipe to the left to see all my members anymore

It's impressive how talent Discord is in making users regret ever updating the app ever! But now they forced everyone into the new UI update so the regret is instead swapped for rage! Well done, Discord! I've never been more amazed by how awful every single update has been before this UI update! 🎉
