Dolby has both lossy and lossless. Anything streaming is usually 768kbps at most but Dolby True HD on Blu-rays is lossless with up to 6mbps (usually around 4.4). Dolby Atmos HD is up to 18mbps.

you mention at the very end the Samsung S90C as ideal value for money. However which panel is incorporating the first of second gen QD9-? If the former the lifespan of the 1st gen was not great. Here in the UK we can not longer have the S90D with a QD oled only Woled for most of the sizes.

I’ve got my shortlist down to the LG C4 vs the Samsung S90D. In South Africa where I live, they cost the same. The S90C is still on sale and is 20% cheaper than the two I’m comparing. Should I wait for Black Friday until the S90D and C4 drop in price? And if I do, which should I lean towards? Or should I just get the S90C and save the money?

A little about me. I’m big on movies and TV shows, but I also do regular though casual gaming i.e. I game a lot in my free time but not competitively. My primary concern is HDR impact and light in my living room is controlled. I think my only hangup with Samsung is the lack of Dolby Vision so if it really doesn’t matter, I’ll need some convincing.

Roku might not have used Dolby audio on some of their products, if the Roku products passed the files to the TV for decode. Most TVs already have that Dolby audio decoder built in. There really is not need to pay twice for that decider.

Bro, AC3 have not been "key" technology since DVD's.
And most streaming ever have never been in AC3, it is ancient tech.
It must be about some updated and much newer codec than AC3.
