This was a lousy solution. You showed that one solution exists by just stating that it exists. You didn't prove anything or demonstrate a fundamental principle that can be used in other problems

Is there any way to prove there are no other solutions?

What is the motivation for this method?

I did this in my head in seconds, simply because I remembered that the year 2025 (45 squared) was the last square year until 2116 (46 squared). I then recognised that 120 (5!) would bring 1996 up to 2116, leading to the solution (46, 5).
