The czech lady got it right, prices are crazy and good luck finding a flat. Food is alright though.

Wtf... I didn't know it was so bad. I was upset about getting "only" 63k a year in Berlin. Not anymore.

Same in Austria. Their biggest nightmare is non-Austrian people in management positions.

Surely, everyone decides on his/her own, but my calculation of living costs in Berlin is less optimistic than the ones presented in the video.
The minimum decent monthly amount of 2, 000 - 2, 500 EUR net you end up with after taxes and paying for rent (which would hardly be less than 1, 200 - 1, 500) is what I would aim at. Thus you have enough to cherish yourself in good restaurants (not daily of course), pay for groceries, clothes, hobbies and save a little bit for a vacation. And it won't be a luxury life. So your annual salary should be at least around 70K gross. That's for one-person-household without kids. Anything below that seems like survival, honestly

I am slightly connected to the banking world and the guy who says he's in banking and claims 3, 000 EUR / mo is good. I'd say that is insanely low. That's just really low for all the things people do with their lives.

I don't get it why any qualified personel would want to work for those salaries in Berlin.

The american guy is the very sincere, this is the sad truth.

Berlin is cheap, especially rent, when you compare it to other major Western European cities. Its even cheaper than other cities in Germany like Munich and Frankfurt.

The one that came from London is this typical lazy expat
1. The standard for 1-2 room flats is not 1500 eur/m, this is just false, these are the leftover junk flats on immoscout, not the typical flats on the market
2. The salary proposal she got is relatively low, but I can assume, just like housing, she was putting little effort to aim for something decent.
3. Unfortunately this has to do with what the american said - Germans appreciate credentials over competence, at least when it comes to hiring. This is absurd but understandable, it's hard to assess the competence of a candidate, while credentials are more or less verifiable and actionable.

To the American guy, you are friendly invited to move back to US. What a disrespectful behaviour! What an unpleasant person.
