Electricity Generated By Body Heat?

The human body might be the greenest source of renewable energy yet. Body heat leaves us at an astounding rate... but what if we could recapture that energy? Welcome to thermoelectrics!

Seebeck effect, the inverse of the Peltier effect. The two dissimilar metals might not be as dissimilar as you'd think; copper & copper II oxide will give you a Seebeck device. Just heat a piece of copper until it's blue-hot and let it cool down and bam, Seebeck device

I discovered TEC/peltier cooling for my computer CPU back in the late 90s (Celeron 400 I think), and was blown away. It was hugely inefficient, but moving heat quickly in such a tiny package was fascinating. I ended up rigging up an old power supply and doing a school presentation on it.

Correction. It's called the Seebeck effect thus Seebeck Generator although the more common name is a thermoelectric Generator

We need this for powering all kinds of things!

The Machines from “The Matrix” learned this long ago… :)

Look at The Mach Effect and Piezoelectric Effect.

It's relevant to your channel seeing as how it's origins, Petrovoltaics, came from the Progenitor of ion wind propulsion; Thomas Townsend Brown.

Do you have to tune the watch after every time you take it off?

Peltier device working on the sebeck effect, it’s silicon solid state junctions

Had to to a quick school project, this literally gave me 20/20

does it make draw heat away? In other words does it feel cold?

Use graphene or Borophene for the contacts and you might get 1, 000% better conduciveness/efficiency. 👍🏽

That's cool that have them in watches now. Too bad they are not powerful enough to use like a solar panel system still 😢 By the way, they don't run from "heat" but from the differential between a hot and cold side. Without the cold side it won't work no matter how much heat!

That’s all well and dandy, but what’s the watch called? Getting tired of always having to change batteries in my old one when I need it

@PlasmaChannel where did u get that watch it looks great

Sorry to be that guy, but it's Seebeck, not c-back.

Great tech idea to generate extra power for my exoskeleton suit

So essentially what is required to power a proper civilian grade augmented reality headgear design as a first iteration with some modifications for extra sources of power while slowing energy drainage

Its like the opposite of a peltier, right?

i remember it felt a bit fishey when i red in my physics book that it was not possible to make electricity from heat...

is this different from a peltier plate?
