Nope. - Nothing easy about it. I've been trying to recover an hotmail email account for for a relative who attempted to change their password. None of the system step through processes have worked. The system wants to try to text a landline and will not call the number for an audible code. We've tried the long method which asks a myriad, of questions, but it never emails the default email with any final code or instructions after the initial code. It's easier for someone to hack an account than it is for an existing hotmail email owner to regain access to their own account

NONE of the popup boxes you show are the same as what I get. I get questions about my date of birth and mothers place of birth and a whole bunch of other obscure things that I have NEVER given to anyone because most of them I have never known.

We try to log in but they every time to get a code and when try to put in an alternative email it says it doesn’t recognize it

This isn't really helpful, as you cannot retrieve any of the contents of your Hotmail or Live mail account. All you get back is an empty inbox. Microsoft just wiped out seven years of my electronic records while I was in the hospital. Should be titled How To Reactivate your Hotmail Address After Microsoft Deleted All Your Files.

For some bizarre reason everytime I do the simple puzzle to validate my account, it just tells me to do it again, even if I got it right.

It says I don’t have an account with that email when I log in then when I try to create with the same email it says I already have one help me!

My email is blocked due to a security problem. It asked for all my info which I provided. Then it said unfortunately their automated system couldn’t approve it. Then it asked me to submit a new form and when I select that it just repeats the same questions with the same results. Extremely annoying. I think I will just give up and use a new service. Microsoft is the worst. Hope they go out of business.

Is there anybody from Microsoft that might read thes e comments? It appears not otherwise they would realise that there are literally thousands of accounts suffering from the same problem with no outcome! In other words, they don't give a stuff !

So you can recreate a deleted hotmail with a previous email name even if it was used by someone else in the past? isnt that a big security flaw?

Hotmail does not recognize my account. I've had this account for 20 years but when I log in it states it does not recognize it. I tried setting up a new account using my old log in but it says its taken.

I am just going round in circles. I fill out the information to retrieve the password. I get an email from to my yahoo account saying that I've not given them enough information so submit a new form. This takes me back to the original form which apparently I don't have enough information for. Anyone got any advice?
