Ann-Marie Tells a story in Indian Canyon

Показать описание
Apologies for the sound quality, video taken via cellphone at a distance....
March 7, 2015 Indian Canyon had over 100 visitors for the
Fieldtrip/walk the land/potluck event.
A spinnoff of the bi-annual fieldtrip that SFSU Native Studies takes to Mission San Juan Bautista and then to Indian Canyon. We welcomed others schools and the public.
CONTENT FROM EVENT PAGE:
SFSU has their Bi-Annual field trip where they visit Mission San Juan Bautista with an interesting perspective than the usual docent tours offer - focusing on the Indigenous perspective (this field trip meets up between 9-10) then the classes caravan to Indian Canyon.
UPDATE: 1030am Phil Klasky and SFSU students circle up other lawn at the Mission to start the tour, they will leave SJB by or before NOON.
We all gather at the Cultural Center/Ethno-Botanical Display, place our potluck lunch on the tables, receive an introduction about Indian Canyon - with Ann-Marie Sayers and Kanyon, share a blessing. Enjoy lunch and walk the land. Have an educational field trip. Care to join us?
Non-Profit Organization, Federally recognized "Indian Country" - OHLONE TERRITORY
We open this Fieldtrip to the public as a perfect opportunity for new visitors to the Canyon to learn about the land, the ceremonies and gatherings that take place in Indian Canyon and about how Ann-Marie is the caretaker (how she attained the land utilizing the allotment act of 1887 and how she went through 18months of litigation to attain water rights for the *year-round stream to flow through) and all about the importance of having sacred land for ceremony is for Indigenous peoples.
Bring an item or two for the table (one year we had 60 students, another year we had 140 students plus family members and visitors with everyone bringing something - there is plenty of food) We are so very thankful for the amazing donations from SFSU (thank you Phil Klasky) of land maintanence and useful items we in the Canyon can use and the donations to the Grassroosts Non-profit are put to wonderful use - Costanoan Indian Research
All trash that is brought in, must leave (we are off the grid, and we respect people with the NTLB mentality -- No Trace Left Behind - That you leave the space as nice as or better than it was when you arrived)
