Blue alert for heavy rain renewed in central, southern and eastern China

China’s National Meteorological Center (NMC) on Monday renewed its blue alert for central, southern and eastern China, as heavy rainstorms coupled with strong winds continued to lash many parts of the country. Torrential rain is expected to sweep parts of central China including Shaanxi, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, as well as the southern provinces of Fujian, Guangdong and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Thunderstorms, strong winds and hailstones are also forecast in some of these areas.
