The New Fluid Trains are TRASH - Satisfactory Early Access Gameplay Ep 22

Satisfactory Update 3 Early Access gameplay! Today we're messing with our train system and optimizing it because we kinda 'goofed it'. It turns out that the new fluid trains in update 3 are really bad and we pretty much have to rework it. Hopefully we manage to get to some oil processing though!

About: Satisfactory
Satisfactory is a first-person open-world factory building game with a dash of exploration and combat. Pioneering for FICSIT Incorporated means charting and exploiting an alien planet, battling alien lifeforms, creating multi-story factories, entering conveyor belt heaven, automating vehicles, and researching new technologies. The Satisfactory Train update and Nuclear update also adds in trains, train stations, and nuclear power plant to enjoy, if you can handle the nuclear waste that is! In some of our videos, we go over Satisfactory tips and Satisfactory building tips, as well how to build a mega base and manufacturer setup. Our Satisfactory Early Access let’s play ep 1 was started a few months ago, but now we have hundreds of hours since Satisfactory ep 1 and have built a giant base with computer production, supercomputer production, a huge nuclear power plant and hundreds of trains! Our giant train system covers the entire map and gathers uranium, deals with our nuclear waste, and Satisfactory trains are a very satisfactory way of travel!
Satisfactory Update 3 also changed the game entirely adding pipes, Hyper Tubes, the Awesome Shop and Awesome Sink (aka Resource Sink), a new desert biome, a new vehicle, and a ton more!
This Factorio like game has heavy automation, with automated mining, crafting, and you can even automate movement! Follow my Satisfactory Early Access Gameplay for the best base building, best Satisfactory tips, and more!
Satisfactory is an FPS open-world factory building sim by CoffeeStain Studios. You play as an engineer on an alien planet as part of the ‘Save The Day’ program - a program whose goal is to construct a massive machine for a mysterious purpose. Conquer nature, build multi-story factories, and automate to satisfaction!

Ok, CoffeeStain heard ya:
"It took a while longer than it should have, but the fluid capacity of Trains and the Buffers is also increased. They should no longer be trash, thanks for reminding us Kibitz. Sorry to everyone that has been waiting for this."

BALANCING
• Increased storage capacity for the following:
- Fluid Freight Platform, from 500 to 2400m3
- Fluid Freight Wagon, from 500 to 1600m3
- Fluid Buffer, from 300 to 400m3
- Industrial Fluid Buffer, from 1200 to 2400m3

When I started using fluid trains, I had the unloading trainstation on a level above my refineries, saved me a lot of pumps, with the fluids just flowing down.

They need vertical lift pipes where they use one power connection for the entire travel and the power increases with lift travel distance. Maybe show a cut out in the pipe that looks like an Archimedes screw mechanism of sorts.

Kibitz: "Fluid trains are trash!"
...builds a bigger fluid train...

This is probably why it takes 30MW machinery to package fuel, it massively increases the density of your fluids

Next video title: "The Fluid trains are GOD TIER!!!"

Use trains to get fluids to altitude then let gravity do the rest

and now imagine at the release the capacity was 50 m³ xD

It gets really satisfying have trains or even a organised train setup

They need to really add two things: Packing and unpacking stations of liquids and pumps mk2. Just like in the video: the pumping up of liquids are a hazzle to manage, they need to either change the 20 meter to 30 meter or make a mk2 pump that pumpts liquids up 50 meter at once. I dont mind if it would cost 10 power for a mk2 pump. And a visible indicator to tell you how many meters the pump goes, an indication for the whole length to tell you how many meters in total the pipe goes upwards. This way you can plan ahead and know when and where a pump is needed. It only goes to 22 meter and does in no way tell you if it goes for 23 or 56 meters. You need to walk back and forth alot of times to know this number for sure.

In summary
Unpacking Stations of fluids
Mk 2 pumps for 50 or so meter (or change the mk 1 pumps to 30 meter instead of 20)
A clear incidcation from away to tell you how high the current pipe goes to better plan pumping

That would be a big quality of life improvement.

Kibs, you need to do the math on packing and unpacking and finally realize that you should never do that system. The power costs are astronomically worse than just using pumps. Honestly the balance on Fluids are just incredibly bad, you should process oil on site, its not worth transporting it over any kind of distance unless you keep the entire system on the same level since there is no power cost to transport over distance with no height difference. Also, using Fuel Generators is wasteful on oil in this update. You should focus on getting nuclear power set up and just scrap your oil projects, its going to take you ages of math and miles and miles of pipe to set up all your oil as you are proceeding and its definitely slowing your game play down.

How headlift of pumps work:

Pump MIDDLE to pump MIDDLE, not output to input :3

20:00 "Pumping stuff vertically, bad idea...bad idea. Just package it and use a conveyor lift"

you could do all your oil and oil products on the lower floors 😉🤣😜

that oil pipe tower looks like the perfect place to cut your sons hand off, eh Darth Kibitz?

I know its like the whole theme that you do all the processing in the base but i think it would be way more efficent if you would do the low tier processing on site and do only the high tier processing at base. So the base is like the hub where all the low tier products from all over the map come together and get processed into high tier stuff.

There is a way to raise liquids by good old water pressure towers. Tested on that place with big waterfall in desert area with lakes above and beyound waterfall. It's just natural pressure tower, no need even raise water on its top.
I've placed water pumps in lake below waterfall to fully load 2 pipes - main system. It was sufficient to get 300 m3/min, but couldn't raise water above certain height - just as expected. I've placed aux water pump in upper lake, led pipe from upper pump next to lower fully loaded pipes, waited until upper pipe system was full of water and connected upper system to both lower pipes. this built up pressure enough to raise water in main system just couple of floors lower than upper pipe (there is some raise in upper system, maybe those couple of floors). As result water flow through all parts of main system is 300 m3/min even if aux upper water pump is underclocked to 10%, no extra pumps on pipes used at all.
Speaking of oil - one have to sacrifice poor oil spot, raise oil sky high via pipe pumps and make pressure tower. Power expenses will be minimal since there's only one pipe to raise by pumps.

I appreciate your attention to detail (straightening the train track), and your intelligent designs (the Mk 1 steel production setup). This game is so beautiful, and it really brings to light the clash between growing industry vs. the natural beauty of the world. Your ability to make the production lines aesthetic is fantastic!

18:30 Headlift is calculated from the bottom-most corner of the producer (1st pump) to the top-most corner of the consumer (2nd pump). So basically the head lift is 20 meters minus the vertical height of a pump. This is more apparent if you connect to pumps on a perfectly horizontal pipe. You're not gaining any actual altitude, but the 1st pump will still say its generating ~1.3 headlift to reach the 2nd
(horizontal pumps are 1.3 m in height).

So in the video BOTH pumps need to fit in the height of 5 walls. The pumps here with the problems are fitting on a stretch of 6.5 walls.

What I do is build walls 5 high, then build a 8x1 floor every 4 walls up then snap the pumps to the walls up against each floor. Then remove the floors and connect the pipes (or keep the floors as you can build through them).
