I had a steady babysitting gig in high school and the dad treated me like he was my uncle. Drove me home. Introduced me to great British music. Gave me life advice like "dont work for other people...have them work for you..." I think he felt bad for me bc i think he picked up on the fact that my parents were lame.

I always talked with the Dads as a tween/teen. Never awkward! I’m GenX though & we didn’t have cell phones. If a sitter walked in my house on her phone I’d not be happy! The Dad’s always drove me home. I was driven home by drunk Dads 2x. SO scary!! 😱 My Mom was livid!

I used to babysit in high school and college- never had this experience. I talked to both parents with the same comfort and respect. They always ended up becoming like family to me.
