It is a part of the Canadian subarctic that is shrouded in legend and myth. The stories that have come from it have echoed back through the centuries. This week, we start a look at just some of the legends that have come from the Valley of the Headless Men.

Good podcast audio, but I found the stock nature footage of Alaska highway, and other areas from southern ranges that I recognise weird. Topographic map shots of the region your talking about and pointing out the geographic features while you talk about them would have been rad. But ...not a lot of images out there to Google, so I get it.
If you think this story is cool you should look into the history of the lava beds in the Nass Valley, head-on-a-stick, new ayansh. Super wild story. Super wild place.

Another episode idea for your next episode where Canada has had a strong presence: battle of the somme.
... Americans hate the one, because they were still ages away from joining the war and Hollywood couldn't make a movie about it.

Me and my 4 buddies have set up an expedition to the nahanni, we will be leaving next week in search of gold, but also to put to rest all of these rumors of death and supernatural occurrences, we believe these were made up stories from prospectors to scare off other prospectors from taking gold from a particular spot, wish us luck! Names : John R, Matt L, Chris P, Pat M.

Me and 3 of my buddy’s will be heading there in June to stay for 3 weeks to prospect some gold I’ll try to get some footage. We’re former military and very seasoned in land navigation. We will be armed although will not engage unless self defense is 100% necessary. I don’t believe in ghost and spirits and myths and still don’t. However I respect the natives land and the natives and will give them a percentage of the gold if we strike some. We will be using night vision, drones and military grade trail cameras. This Valley is sacred and should be respected but I don’t believe for one second it’s dangerous. A lot of people just are ill equipped to handle that terrain with bears and wolves

If there's any truth to the stories, I'd assume there very likely could be an isolated, primitive tribe of natives in the area. It's a pretty big area with limited access, so there's plenty of room for them to exist in isolation. It wouldn't be unheard of for a primitive tribe to protect their territory by killing, and possibly maiming the bodies as a warning. It's also likely that there could be some species that we thought extinct, though I find this less likely than the tribe. An animal would leave signifying marks, as well as likely eat at least something from their kill. Of course, we've seen isolated pictures, and videos of very large wolves in remote locations, usually far north in sparsely located spots. Gigantism is a thing in animals, so it's most likely a limited thing where it happens, and often ran off from the pack. I still say, even a dire wolf would have left marks, and would have eaten something of its' kill. It's all a fun thought though. Like anything, have fun with the idea, but take it with a grain of salt. I might be an idiot. I'd love to get some my vet buddies together, some specific supplies, and go exploring. lol

Fascinating. Stories. Of Nahanni history. But I think. A lot are just. Myths. Invented by. Indians. And others. !! Ibts just. An ancient. Place. Untouched. By man. F or thousands. Of years.

It would have been great if when you described a certain place to at the very least show it at the same time and explain this area a little better 🤔 because your just showing pictures and how are we to know when we are looking at for instance 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th canyon 🥴
