JD Vance reminds me of a reporter (many years ago) from my city.
He was "the peoples' reporter" fighting for the people. For two years he was on the electric company's back for raising rates over and over. After two years of fighting the Good Fight, the Electric company suddenly hires him as their Public Relations person. Suddenly the reporter is on the news as the Electric company's voice telling us why the Electric company needs even more rate hikes.
JD Vance is exactly like that: He was telling us that Trump is America's Hitler and now he is Hitler's Himmler.

Every word coming out of JD Vance’s mouth likely needs to be approved by Peter Theil, his billionaire benefactor. Every job Vance has had since law school, Theil arranged for him. No doubt this one as well.

I decided to read Hillbilly Elegy in order to get a handle on the character of Vance for myself rather than rely on the kind of polarized political commentary on offer here. So far, I'm surprised by the raw honesty of the book, which lays bare in excruciating fashion the dysfunctional culture of flyover America resulting in large part from the mass exportation of the decent jobs upon which a more viable society had been built. I can't vote for Vance because I won't vote for Trump, and neither can I vote for Harris, but this relic from the radical 60s finds more authenticity in the kind of right-wing populism that Vance represents than in almost anything today deemed progressive. I'm sure that I belong to a new silent majority, hopefully a bit wiser than that which supported Tricky Dick, which finds itself without a political party even remotely attractive.

This probably won’t happen but God I wish Kamala would pick Jamie Raskin as VP. It would be fun watching him tear into JD Vance, and the debate.

Vance wasn't Trump's first choice but it's what his kids wanted. Maybe because he was thinking about his own mortality he had a moment of weakness and let them get what they wanted for once.

What I haven't seen anybody touch on yet is how Frump's pick of Vance shows how easy he (Frump) is to manipulate. Just praise him. 🙄

Another reason is Vance is a link to big, big money -- led by the likes of Theil. And boy does Trump personally need money!
