I don't remember Hasbro killing off a bunch of my Little ponies in their movie to continue their product...

Always felt gobots deserved a better shot. I actually liked many of their figures a lot more when I was younger, but transformers clearly surpassed them in quality over time.

Because he got blacklisted after Citizen Kane, Orson Welles had to do a lot of commercials to pay the bills. The Brain's (from "Pinky and the Brain") voice performance was inspired by a series of coffee commercials Welles did. Welles knew that the Transformers was a big toy commercial, but that doesn't entail that he didn't respect it or take his role seriously. I can't remember if it was Lindsay Ellis or hbomberguy, but they convinced me Welles probably wouldn't have been sad to know his last role was as a talking planet in a toy commercial...more likely he would have laughed!

The stories in the Marvel UK comics after the movie (“Target 2006”, “Wanted: Galvatron - Dead or Alive”, all the way through to “Time War”) were superb and would have been a great big screen sequel.

Why did I stop having an interest in Transformers toys? When I got an NES for crimmus in '87. Everyone I knew had moved onto NES and later Gameboy, Genesis, SNES, etc. The video game era killed off toys for the title of main plaything...

Holy cow! I didn't realize it was a full feature length documentary! I'm going to have to pause this until I can make a bit more time. But looking forward to it!!

I gotta say I love that blue Optimus that goes inside the Magnus armor. I'd love a new figure of that. Maybe a new Missing Link figure?

I was a massive Transformers fan as a kid and when the movie came out I was really only upset about Optimus Prime's death. Even though i wasn't a fan of Rodimus I really liked the post movie cartoon better because it was more of a Sci-Fi show which i loved. I was so stoked for the Return of Optimus Prime and so crushed that it just ended there. That's what made me disinterested in Transformers the conclusion of the G1 cartoon here in the US.

I remember seeing Transformers: The Movie in the theatre when it was first released. I was 10 years old and I drove my bike to the nearby mall where it was playing. I was in all my glory. I absolutely loved the movie. And I did witness a mother and her son leave the theatre after Prime's death. After the movie, I rode my bike back home and begged my mother for money so I could go see it again before the next showing started. Critics be damned. I always loved that movie. I felt like the movie wasn't treating me like an idiot. The deaths and smattering of curse words made me feel like I wasn't just watching something for kids. It felt like a movie.

Ok what we need is a movie that's transformers vs gobots, but it's like small soldiers and the toys are literally competing for "territory" on toystore shelves

"We now return to the Transformers!". How frickin' amazing were those voice over guys, same as the 80s movie trailers on VHS. The 80s is just the best decade
