"we are free but it is dangerous to talk about politics".

That sums it all up.

As an Estonian, I am proud that we have accomplished so much within 30 years. Our digital innovation, economic growth, and joining of the EU and NATO, along with building a strong democracy and so on, are significant achievements. It's saddening to reflect on the economic stagnation and halt in development during the USSR era, but history is history, and we can only change the future.

The best way to improve relations with neighbouring countries is to stop invading them.

Another interesting fact about Estonia. It used to be a rich country on par with Finland before it was occupied of the USSR. When if left the Soviet union it had just a fractions of Finland's GDP/capita. But it has been able to recover, and is today one of the most successful former USSR/former Warsaw pact countries! Without finding any oil or something like this. Good job Estonia! 👍👍

It’s great that Russians believe they live better than Estonians (and better than all other countries, according to many Russians). Stay in your fantastic country and don’t bother us who live in misery.

A German here... For people who keep an eye on foreign countries, they are watching developments in Estonia and the Baltics with great interest.
I remember articles about the Baltics throughout the 1990s, from the beginnings of the still rural Baltics to what can be observed overall today. When it comes to digitalization, they are now further ahead than my home country.

I am pleased that the Baltic countries are part of the "spiritual" Europe (EU), and that they are committed to it and live like it. I see them as those European states that are not only interested in the benefits, but also highly value them.
Given the population density, they may only play the Triangle in the European orchestra, but that doesn't detract from the matter!

The Baltic states are therefore a great enrichment for the peaceful and communal idea of Europe.

To claim Estonians are slow couldn't be further from the truth. It's been amazing to follow how fast the country has developed from a mistreated part of the USSR to a modern, technologically advanced country.

Russian logic: 'We are a pretty free country.... although it's dangerous to talk about politics.'

5:02 - I wonder why Estonians have trust issues...
"During the Russian occupations of Estonia (1940–1941; 1944–1991), a combined total of over 135000 Estonians were either killed or deported. Their properties and personal belongings were confiscated and given to the arriving colonists, which included Russian military and NKVD personnel, as well as functionaries of the Communist Party and economic migrants. These figures represent only a part of the tragic impact of the invasions and occupations on the Estonian population. The full extent of the human cost is likely much higher and includes those who were displaced, suffered physical and psychological trauma, or lost their lives in ways not officially recorded."

Love the guy who thinks Russians earn more than Estonians. Imagine his surprise when he finds out Estonia has the highest average wage of the Baltics and is 3 times that of Russia whilst the minimum wage is four times that of Russia. But then he probably thinks the Swiz live in poverty and the British are freezing to death. Having lived in Russia and married to a Russian I would like to take him to a Russian village than take him to a British village, his shock would be worth the expense.
I never forget my wife's and her families surprise and shock when sitting around a dinner table and being asked my dreams to which I answered to live in a village near the sea. They thought English villages were like Russian villages and that post card village was just an invention of an artist. When she arrived in the UK we went to see my sister who lived in a small coastal village in Northumberland, her shock when she arrived there was visceral at which point she realised just how poor and ugly Russian villages are. Imagine the shock when her family came to the UK and we took them to Conwell for a week, they really thought it was paradise, so imagine now how they thought when I told them the Cornish were one of the poorest communities in the UK. Having said that when you live in Cornwall you may be a little cash poor but your environment can only be described as paradise.

The last guy said it. “Be friendly”. That’s indeed how to improve relations. Be a good neighbour. You could try it with Ukraine. Be respectful and a good neighbour. None of your neighbours have any desire to invade you.

I am very happy that russians think they live better of than Estonians.

This should remain so that they would not consider emigrating to Estonia as ... They see it... Its worse here.. 😂

Let them have their freedoms, better life, higher wages of middle class etc. Let them have their illusions and dreams. Who are we to teach them otherwise.

The more indifferent they are the better for all.

My partners Mother got out of Estonia after the war and came to England . It took her 50 years before she could return to the country of her birth and by then many of her old friends and family had passed . Russia was the enemy .

I'm a foreigner (Portuguese) living in Estonia.
It's interesting to know that apparently I should move to the Russian Federation to enjoy the better economic conditions?

I am Estonian... Yes indeed before 1918 we were part of russian empire but after our war of liberation soviet russia and whole world did accept that there is separate county called Estonia. After that soviets occupied us in 1940 - 1941 and after that in 1944 - 1991. In 1944 russia didn't liberate Estonia... It only reoccupied us... We are thinking about this era this way that we were occupied first by russians, then germans and then russians again... There was no liberation in this time...

They say they live better in Russia, but after a quick search, you find out that the average salary in Estonia is 1700 euros, and in Russia, it is 700 dollars, which equates to 650 euros. I see a lot of people in Russia say they live well, but the statistics show something different. I presume they are being misled about the situation abroad is
