WHO UNICEF Global Webinar on COVID 19 Vaccine Digital Certificate - Session 1

The WHO and UNICEF in collaboration with the Digital Health Centre of Excellence (DICE) presented a webinar on how digital health investments can support COVID-19 vaccine digital certificates.

This webinar provided information on the ethical considerations and justifications for establishing COVID-19 Digital Certificates; Highlighted the necessary technologies, legislations and policies required for establishing COVID-19 Digital Certificates; gave an overview of the minimum requirements and the steps involved in the deployment of COVID-19 Digital Certificates; and created awareness on the technical resources and support available to countries.

The timing for this webinar considered that COVID-19 vaccines are being delivered fast, and there is an increasing need for countries to give individuals a record of their vaccination status through Digital Vaccination Certificates that are accessible by both the vaccinated person and authorized health workers; and can provide proof of vaccination in the context of stewardship of scarce public health resources.
