Immediate off the start there’s a mistake. Polygamy didn’t start until the saints were in Missouri in 1841, and it wasn’t widespread until 1845, long after they left New York

My family joined in New York and Vermont in the 1830's and were part of this. Yes, polygamy did not start until Missouri. Many died in Winters Quarters becuase of diseases. Most of these early Mormons did not yet use handcarts. Most of those people were converts who joined in England and Scandinavia and was an effort to save money. In the end many took the train
