In a retrospective interview on this sketch years after it aired, Dana said that in order for the dog to come to his head wound & start nibbling, the makeup crew slipped liver pate underneath the prosthetic. Though rather than a sliver of the spread, they placed a whole tablespoon & that's why the dog kept chewing at the wound.

This is hilarious! According to Robert Englund, he said he, wes craven & some other guy watched this sketch at Wes' House and wes almost wet himself with laughing so much, he was even crying with laughter

The blonde lady on the back left near the window, is Timothee Chalamet's mother, 7 months pregnant with his older sister Pauline at the time (you can see Pauline has grown up looking like her mother). Their mother was a dance teacher, but she worked as an extra on SNL sometimes. Timothee was born 4 years after this.

I saw this back in college and couldn't stop laughing! Not only did Dana Carvey laugh on camera at the dog pulling on the wig, but so did the cast if you look carefully. 😆

i used to spend the night at my buddy todds house in high school and we would always watch snl. we laughed so hard at this when it first aired it woke his parents up
