Dropped on my birthday, no warning. Fuck yes, best day ever. I remember playing this when I was 10-11 now I'm 30. Time to return home again.

Living long enough to see great video games remastered from the ground up makes being a long time gamer a truly wonderful experience.

This is the quickest I've seen a title get announced and immediately put it in my library.

I remember playing the game, exiting the sewers, and my computer graphics card giving up trying to render the open world. I ordered a new graphics card with my next paycheck, and one month later finally got to start playing. My twin boys were 5 yrs old then, they were immediately drawn to the open choices the game allowed, they would beg to sit on my lap and have me run the controls while they decided what we would do each game play. Such amazing memories - "Dad, can we play the 'castle' game after dinner?"...

I remember playing this as a teenager with my father, now I'll play this with my own son.

My grandfather - who is still alive and kicking, but was 57 at the time - came to me after school one day, totally hyped and said "I've seen this game being advertised in every magazine. It's called 'Oblivion' and it looks unbelievable. We HAVE to get you it..." I hadn't even seen a single bit of artwork or gameplay. Hadn't heard the music. Hadn't even played an RPG before, to be honest. But, was absolutely buzzed immediately when I saw how enthusiastic my grandad was about this game. He took me straight to Virgin Megastores and bought me the COLLECTOR'S EDITION - we were broke as shit. I'd never owned a "collectors" anything in my life - that came with a world map on nice paper and a Septim coin inside. There was also a "making of" DVD included that featured a lot of the old footage shown of the staff and Bethesda studios at the beginning of this video. The moment the game started and that main screen music hit, I got shivers. Oblivion fast became my favourite game of all time. It's been a literal constant in my life for close to 20 years. I've played it at least once a year ever since 2006. Whether it be to mess around with mods, build new characters, exploit silly glitches (RIP, scroll dupe) or just to have a wander around Cyrodiil and relive the glory of the base game. Every single year, it's been with me, thanks to my grandad just basically being a straight up legend. I'm gonna call him later today and let him know about this reveal. I've got literal, grown man tears in my eyes watching this video and reading everyone's stories about what this game means to them. I feel so sad for the guys and girls we lost along the way that will never get to see this game. But, their story and legend lives on through us. Hope everyone has fun with the game! Todd, you've done it again.

Today I took one of the hardest tests I've ever faced. I spent nearly a month studying for it. When I got home and saw this, what an amazing gift after a month full of stress. Thank you, Bethesda!

Seeing people’s comments ranging from childhood nostalgia, playing with beloved passed siblings and friends, playing with parents and now being a parent… bless you all. This is why I love video games and gamers. Enjoy the game, everyone.

See you at the gates of Oblivion.

Over 10 years ago, my brother Chris played this game religiously. He knew everything there was to know. He would do spot on impressions of the npc's quotes right before they said it. He would tell me about the voice actors and developers. He knew them all by name and he would talk about them like personal friends. He raved about Todd Howard. I would sit in listen in astonishment. Chris died in 2015 before my high school graduation and I have spent that long chasing the high of those days I mentioned. I must have played 20k hours of Fallout 3 trying to relive the times he would tell me the hidden secrets of the wasteland I was so lost in. I can not wait to tour the Oblivion I remember so fondly. I only wish he was here to play it with me. I miss you Christopher. Thank you for this Bethesda.

I played MANY HOURS of the original with my brother. We spent YEARS playing this together making and remaking characters, trying new builds, being stupid pushing horses off cliffs (lol), and this made me cry.

He died a couple years ago and I have to decide if i can handle revisiting Cyrodiil without him. He'd be so stoked to see this today.

Edit 04/26/3025: I did it! I just bought it and have it downloaded. Thanks for the push, everybody!

I literally cried watching this. This takes me back to the Skyrim reveal. Skyrim was a huge part of my childhood. I have never played Oblivion, and I am honestly so fucking hyped right now.

This was my first Bethesda game. I got it with my 360 about a year after release. I think I was 22. Skyrim was more polished but I always felt like Oblivion was grander and more epic. The Mythic Dawn is back!
