Lauf Anywhere | The Perfect Mountain Biker's Road Bike?

The Lauf Anywhere is an all-road gravel bike from the company that made its name with quirky leaf spring forks. But, could it be the perfect mountain bikers road bike? Senior Technical Editor Tom Marvin certainly thinks so.

In a radical departure for the brand, the Anywhere doesn’t make use of the signature fork design, instead sporting a conventional rigid number.

The bike is built around a full carbon frameset with big clearances and plush 40mm tyres as standard. It’s available in four builds starting at $2,690, or as a frameset if you prefer.

Looks good but I dont get the pitch "Perfect Mountain Biker's Road Bike?" Isn't that any other gravel bike? Or it could be a TT-bike for a mountain biker that really wants to mix things up a bit.

Congratulations Lauf, you have made a hybrid-to-drop bar conversion bike, straight from the factory. Nearly exact geometry as two hybrids I've bought for drop conversion. Snark aside, the long TT, short stem, short headtube, and slack head angle should offer exceptional stability and decently low position for anyone not actively in a peloton. Those were the qualities that led me to use hybrid bike frames instead of existing endurance geometry gravel bikes for my builds.

As a mountainbiker I love it. I would love to have a bike like this for midweek evening rides on usually bumpy and damp roads. Admittedly it is a bit of a niche but it would fit my needs perfectly. If I could afford it I would own one.

It seems to lack mudguard mounts. Which, in my opinion, is a must on an all-round bike.

I'm getting back into shape and want to upgrade from my early 90's steel ride. Back then I did a bit of century riding and would like to get back there, but I'm old and need comfort. I really like a lot of Lauf's ideas but am torn between the anywhere and the new Siegla.

What is the difference between Giant TCX or Orbea Terra? What makes this bike so special than others? I mean bottle opener is definitely plus, but what else???

Nearly the exact same geometry as the Cannondale SuperX, . With the 3mm short CS and 0.5 degree steeper SA the SuperX wins the geometry game in my opinion as well as with the Save damping, but this Lauf wins on tyre clearance (40mm vs 45mm) and on all the mounts. Both are dream bikes in my opinion, near perfection!

I'm definitely not a fan of mounts on the fork, but that's just a preference of mine. I'd rather wear a backpack if I need more storage

I think this bike would be a good choice for people who only want to have one bike that can do most things. That's where the real appeal of an "All-road" bike like this one lies.

Looks great! I use a Cannondale SuperX as my gravel grinder, and this reminds me of that but with all the features I wish it had for longer rides, haha. Found out the hard way last summer that sometimes two bottle cages really aren't enough.
