Removing The Blown Up 5.3 From the Suburban

In This video I show you how to remove your engine or motor 5.3 from a suburban. This is the same how to remove engine process that will work on Silverado, Tahoe, and Sierra. In this video you will notice I had to pull the motor and transmission together because the 5.3 was locked up or seized. I wish I could have left the transmission and transfer case but I couldn't. I started by removing the Transfer case and then all of the wiring from the transmission and engine. I already took the heads off in an earlier video to see what the issue was. I am going to be deleting the dod and vvt before we install the new engine. It isn't bad and can be removed in your driveway. I am excited to finally get the old engine out so we can get started with the new install. If you are looking to replace your Suburban, Tahoe, Silverado or Sierra engine this video will help with the removal process. More to come as we install the new vvt dod deleted ls 5.3. Looking at your setup, option 1. Pop a new seal in the front pump going back together.

Wow you just gave me hope. I have a 07 Yukon Denali with motor locked. Lifter #7 broke in the motor somewhere. Was wondering how I would be able to pull that beast 6.2 out. Even if it requires doing extra work. Thanks for The video!

Just taking the front diff and crossmember will allow you to take the pan off. Not too bad. The diff is a little bit of a puzzle but very doable. Enjoyed your video as always!

Looks like it went pretty smooth on the engine removal. It's a shame the hood doesn't have the second set of bolt holes to hold it just about straight up in service mode like the silverado does. That was one messed up piston. Looking forward to everything going back together. ✌🏻

Where did you buy that plate to pull up the engine?

Good excuse to put something with the power more suited for this size vehicle like a 6.0-6.2L...

Those jack stands look a little undersized for that truck.

Dude really did take the WHOLE DAM DRIVETRAIN OUT…. to get the motor out. That motor would’ve been out, complete, in 40 minutes, sooner on a lift.
