Since 2008, the 26.2 with Donna: The National Marathon to Finish Breast Cancer has helped support the research efforts at Mayo Clinic aimed at winning the race against breast cancer. Mayo receives 70 percent of the funds from the race proceeds and donations, and over the past six years, close to $2.2 million has been contributed in support of the Mayo Clinic Breast Cancer Translational Genomics Program. The program's goal is to identify the keys to breast cancer origin, diagnosis, and treatment.

Deputy Director of Mayo's Clinic's Cancer Center Edith A. Perez, M.D., the oncologist leading the marathon-funded research, and E. Aubrey Thompson., Ph.D., co-director of the genomics program team, share the latest updated on the progress Mayo Clinic has been making with respect to genomics research and breast cancer treatments.
