Do you have wet windows or windows sills ? During the colder months this is quite normal, it is caused by moisture in the air which comes from breathing, cooking, and washing. The moisture in the air within your home will always be attracted to colder surfaces, once the moisture hits the cold surface it changes back to water droplets collecting around windows and cooler spots on walls especially if air isn't circulated much. For example behind furniture. Prevention is better then the cure, there are 3 things you can do to reduce these effects. Firstly the amount of moisture created, such as putting lids on pans, drying clothes outside instead of inside. Secondly Better control of internal temperature to prevent cold spots maintaining and internal temperature of between 17 and 21 degrees C and finally releasing excess moisture, the best way to do this is to open windows at either end of your home creating cross ventilation drawing the internal moisture out. This can be done each morning for 10 to 15 minutes. If you are concerned about heat loss you could coincide this with the programmer turning your heating off or down. If however you have already got black spot mold around your windows this has grown there over time, as the water droplets are acting as a medium for the mold to grow. Ventilating will not remove the mold. The only way to do this is , good, old fashioned elbow grease. Mix ¼ to ½ cup of bleach in a gallon of water. Scrub the window casing using a clean cloth with the mixture. Let the bleach sit on the window for 20 minutes to disinfect and kill the black mold spores that have remained. You can then rinse the window with clean water and dry it thoroughly. Once you have done this proceed with the ventilation routine detailed above. You will now be managing your condensation and stopping the mold from growing. THANKS FOR WATCHING PLEASE LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE, AND SEE OTHER VIDEOS IN MY PLAYLIST FOR MANAGING HEATING
