The University of Connecticut School of Engineering runs many programs to increase diversity. One of these is a program called Joule Fellows, a research experience for teachers.

In the program, middle and high school teachers are brought to campus for a six-week internship in one of the campus's many labs. They help with research on green technology and new, relevant science, and learn how to take their newfound knowledge and bring it back to their classrooms where they can apply it to their curriculums, thus spreading the STEM values (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) to their schools and students.

This video is being submitted with an official report about the program to renew the National Science Foundation grant that funds it (hence all the NSF references).

The video was shot and directed by me. I wanted to show that the program not only provides the participating teachers with new material for their curriculums but also with connections and friendships that will last into the future.

Shot with a Sony Z5U, edited on Adobe Premiere CS5 and SoundBooth on a 15" MBP. Filmed and edited by Milos Atz and Chris Larosa

Song is Se Lest, by Sigur Ros on their album Takk. It was used in accordance with provisions on their website about use.
