makes me wonder who this is aimed for, you get the slim form factor, and (the very limited upgrade path) of a laptop without the portability/ease of use of one.

The fact this most likely cost the same or higher than a laptop baffles me even more

I like the thin profile, but one of my main issues with laptops is the fact that the gpu and cpu share the same heatpipes. So, while the gpu temps might be alright, cpu temps will be the same at lower power consumption or higher to the point of throttling due to a smaller die, leading to louder fan noise.

The design is evolving

Just backwards...

All the portability of a desktop with the power of a laptop. Nice!

I think it would be cool if cases like these could be sold as “kits.” Like, something that can help convert your gaming laptop to something like that :D

If it was 20% cheaper it'd be a genuinely good deal imo.
It's too close to what an equivalent gaming laptop costs though, I'll be shocked if they sell any of them at the non-limited time early bird price though, paying £1, 100 more for that thing sounds insane.

I remember seeing an all-in-one PC/monitor type gaming computer being showcased on LinusTechTips, and I thought it was really cool. I bet there could even be a market for a super-thin gaming PC, even if it was non-modular, with decent cooling and a repurposed laptop board. I have no Idea why this thing costs as much as an equivalent gaming laptop with Identical hardware though!

Hey RGiHD, have you thought about reviewing any of the modular Framework laptops? More specifically, they advertise reusing older chassis internal components in 3D printed cases for HTPC, light gaming, home servers, etc. Sort of a DIY NUC, seems like a neat way to avoid throwing away old laptops.

Terribly over-priced laptop without a screen or keyboard etc.

Great review, shame about the pricing. They're getting these OEM boards with Raptor Lake mobile SKUs for next to nothing at this point. Minisforum has waited for major brands to move on to newer generation SKUs in their laptops, then buying at the tail end for their mini PC.

Can we appreciate the cinematic camera work from a mobile in the backyard of flowers.

things like this are actually really neat ! that would be great for someone like me who tends to bring their entire desktop PC to friends houses so we can LAN party, and that’s starting to get really heavy 😂 so something like this to use for that would be amazing. but to think a machine like this in the footprint it’s in wouldn’t have even been possible say like 5-6 years ago is wild to me we’ve come a long way in a short amount of time

And then you did not even run Cyberpunk 2077 with DSR enabled... Dynamic Super Resolution. As you know, this enables you to set the in-game resolution to 4K. A resolution that approaches 4k versus native 2k. This makes a lot of difference (I mean, like a LOT). In the end of 2022 I bought the NUCXi7. I then bought CP2077. I got over 30 fps with RTX and DSR enabled. Without my really realizing it, I was enjoying 4K resolution on my 1440p display without my much realizing it. I had a great time playing that game. In the end of 2023, several patches/updates further down the road, the game was unplayable with these settings. I suddenly had to play on native 1440p with DLSS on performance and RTX turned off. One, pixellated mess. Especially when it rains. When looking out of a window on the topmost floor of a building, I would believe I was seeing a picture on the wall if I didnt know better. The sense of depth was suddenly gone. Debloating my GPU Driver (thank you Panjno) enabled me to go from performance mode to balanced, but that was it. Still a far cry from the visuals I enjoyed in the beginning of 2023 (DLSS on Quality, DSR plus RTX). I did not want to play the game with the 'optimizations' merely to get a solid 30 fps. The 8Gb vram was, of course, the bottleneck. And it is 2024 and... Minisforum will bring up the frame gen. feature that the 4070 offers. I get your decision not to use DSR. This is not a 4K system. But why could the NUCXi7 from 2022 handle it? Then DSR is not really 4K. It takes a desktop grade GPU to run CP2077 on a 4K panel (I at first accidentally typed '$K' panel). Anyone picking up this AtomMan G7 Ti (and is interested in CP2077, which anyone is who care to buy a computer like this) will play, not the 2.0 version of the Game, but version 2.13.... It was while typing an e-mail for friend in which I recommend the AtomMAn, when it suddenly hit me: I cannot, in all fairness, recommend this thing to him.

Cool product that most people do not comprehend. This has the most powerful mobile CPU currently available and quite a beast. You will only find these in very high end gaming laptops, probably 2500$+. And Lenovo, Dell and HP will sell you mobile workstations with these for 3000$+. With that form factor you can choose your keyboard and screen with the advantage of a portable very powerful box. People that want this form factor for various reasons and with some money will be excited by this product. Though I wished they made a version without dGPU to lower the price if you don't need it. Also people do not realize that the only NVIDIA mobile GPU with 16GB VRAM is the 4090 which costs a fortune
