Red Bull has a big decision to make: should it stick or twist when it comes to its 2025 Formula 1 car?

It wasn't all that long ago that Red Bull looked set to sail serenely through 2024 and next season with its supremacy unchallenged.

Yet despite still being in command of both championships, Red Bull's no longer F1's dominant force. It's not won in four races, Sergio Perez is floundering, and Max Verstappen has sounded repeat warnings about the development path of Red Bull's car.

Every dominations always ends at one point

We are literally watching what the cost cap regs are designed to do, help the other teams catch the best car, and it’s somehow some big talking point

And if RB somehow don't nail the new powertrains then they are done for

it doesn't make sense to twist at this point, being 2026 a major update for car design, i think they should square up and stick to the car's design for an extra year

I'd be more worried about their powertrains.

Don't forget the change in technical regs. surrounding differential braking per axle. The FIA didn't say who had been using it but the sudden slowing of the Red Bull would seem to be a clear indicator.

Tough times for Red Bull.

Their challenges are hitting them from every single direction right now

I feel Red Bull going the same way as Williams back in 1997, last year of Newey design etc I don't think Wache will continue Adrian's excellent designs.

I just don't get why they have to keep changing the regulations, just as the cars are starting to come together. It's incredibly frustrating as a long time f1 fan (40+ years), to see this pattern repeat and repeat and repeat.

Major changes have just as good a chance to screw things up as doing nothing.

They need to optimize all portions of a race weekend including the car. Get the most out of setup, find a few things that can be tweaked or optimized and go from there.

With a new reg cycle coming up it isn't worth losing half a season on a new concept (See mercedes and McLaren and Ferrari when they changed their concepts.)

On a side note if Max leaves for Merc what happens with Antonelli? Surely if Merc cant guarantee him a seat for 2025 then other teams will try to snatch him, maybe a coco pops team with 2 extra seats

I have a weird feeling that next year where going to have a 5 team. Battle for constructors. Like everyone’s gotta bring their a game next year

I think RB should just make a B spec RB20 where they try fix the flaws over the off season and go full send for 2026 aero and powertrain to keep themselves in winning or championship contention, otherwise they could have a very real chance of becoming upper midfielders when new rules come

Hard to ignore that the RB hasnt been improved or well understood enough since Newy left!

2:30 That "stall" is not prevented by ant-stall. It's aerodynamic stall, in which desired airflow is disrupted or unattactched.

So basically, Redbull have sticked to their same formula that gave them success for 3 years it's just that other teams have now started to reach them

The curious thing is, if we compare this year's season with dozens of other seasons from different years, RB is still impressively dominant, but as a contrast with 2023, when Verstappen won an obscene amount of races, RB seems to failing miserably.

one possible direction is to repeat what they did in 2021, the last year of the previous design spec F1 car... build a B-spec RB20 with most of the bugs from 2024 solved and save costs in 2025... to prepare for 2026 amd the new specs...

I wish they had addressed the design change at the start of 2024 and it's impact and maybe if 2023 design choices were better.
