When they ran out of ammo They should’ve thrown big boulders or rocks at the redcoats coming up the hill and knives and bayonets

...Also the Colonists only abandoned the hills due running out of ammunition. There is good speculation they could have occupied the hills longer had they not run out of ammunition.

Didn't the British approach in line instead of column?

What's crazy about this conflict is it was British fighting British at this time.

It is only such a story as boys and girls may read, or the hurried business man on the train, who wants to know "what was doing" in the past; and it is mainly a story of men and women and things doing. To re-create the shadowy figures of the heroic past, to clothe the dead once more in flesh and blood, to set the puppets of the play in life's great dramas again upon the stage of action, —frankly, this may not be formal history, but it is what makes the past most real to the present day. Pictures of men and women, of moving throngs and heroic episodes, stick faster in the mind than lists of governors and arguments on treaties. Such pictures may not be history, but they breathe life into the skeletons of the past.

My 3C7R cousin Thomas Knowlton, commanded Connecticut militia in the Bunker Hill, and his unit provided cover while the rest made a orderly retreat. His unit was last out. His performance that day caused Gen Washington to make the unit his personal guard. Thomas Knowlton eventually went on to form Knowlton's Rangers, the genesis of the US Army Intelligence Corps. Shortly before his death, he ordered another cousin of mine, 2C7R Nathan Hale, on a dangerous mission to spy on British troops on Long Island. He was caught when another cousin, Samuel Hale, recognized him and betrayed him to the British. He was hung on Manhattan Island. His last words were "I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country".

Will we have men of this courage and compassion and love of freedom standup once again will they stand up to tyranny!!! We are almost at the door of a massive civil war machine nobody seems to pay attention to history so therefore we are indeed to repeat our mistakes!!! Love your neighbor and hate less this could avoid unnecessary blood shed !!!
