6 people killed in Amazon warehouse struck by tornado

Six people were killed and 45 people were reunited with their families. The Amazon facility where they were working was struck by a tornado Friday night.

Just wondering...did they have sirens alarming when the tornado was in the area? If so, doesn't Amazon have a basement or sheltered area where employees can go for safety?

This is absolutely horrid. My heart goes out to everyone who lived in homes that were damaged or know people who did. My prayers go out to you 🙏

If Jeff bezos doesn't provide every single worker at this facility with assistance, I hope they sue the crap out of him. The families who lost their loved ones and those that are losing their jobs because of this tornado is going to have lasting effects. These people deserve to receive their full income from amazon until they are able to find another job.

I don't understand how they don't know how many people were in the facility. I am sure there is timeclock info that goes to the main headquarters for payroll, right? Who clocked in that hasn't been accounted for? It seems pretty fucking simple to find that info out.

Cudn’t tell where until I heard Illinois. Wasn’t aware of where the Roof collapse occurred @ the Amazon Warehouse. Thought initially reporters were referring to Kentucky. Why were they all working during a tornado anyway

It took 3 tornados that came through moore, ok before big businesses all put up tornado shelters for their employees. I worked for old dominion freight for 7 years and the freight was always more important than the drivers. I was out during tornado weather on multiple occasions in moore. They told me to just pull over if it gets bad. They refuse to build a tornado shelter at the okc terminal bc the terminal manager says a tornado will never hit there. I've been at the terminal during tornado weather and there's nowhere safe. Man, this story brings back some bad memories. I now own my own freight company and I will never haul for Amazon or buy from them. They treat 3rd party carriers like dogs. The pay is terrible and nothing is guaranteed. You can drive 100 miles to pickup a load and when you get there, it's gone. I know this bc a buddy of mine has had this happen to him multiple times. We got to stop supporting these enormous mega corporations guys. I know people like their free next day shipping, but how do you think they do that? It's not ethical at all.

My brother works at that Amazon location. He was off work that day. It's devastating that people have died. 😥
