Smart was called that due to the efficient packaging. 2 people could sit comfortably and it was easy to find a parking spot. Let's be real, 99% of the people who will buy this will only need those extra cm to cross speed bumps at a higher speed. It's not smart to create bulky and heavy SUVs. Even the older MPVs were more versatile inside. And let's face it, the A segment is dead because all manufacturers decided to increase their profit margins. Instead of having 4-8% of profit, brands now have double digit profits, with engines that will fail catastrophically as soon as the warranty cover is over. Even the mileage that a modern engine can handle has been reduced (the exceptions may be on the Japanese side, except Nissan). And electric cars? They're still in their infancy, I'll buy one when Solid-state batteries appear, with 10 years warranty (minimum).
