Improving maintenance therapy in AML: exploring the role of IDH inhibitors

In this video, Amir Fathi, MD, MPH, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, MA, discusses the need to improve maintenance therapy following allogeneic stem cell transplantation (alloSCT) in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), with targeted novel agents being a superior treatment option to traditional intensive cytotoxic therapies during this vulnerable period. Dr Fathi highlights two Phase I trials investigating the use of IDH inhibitors (enasidenib and ivosidenib) as maintenance therapy, commenting on the need for further studies to verify the positive findings of these trials.
