In his Moscow dressing room, dancer Sergei Polunin pulls off his T-shirt to show the tattoo of President Vladimir Putin on his chest as the Ukrainian-born ballet star premieres his new show in the Russian capital. The 29-year-old, who has been acclaimed by critics a ballet great on the level of Mikhail Baryshnikov or Vaslav Nijinsky, has long been dogged by the label of "the bad boy of ballet".

This man was born to inspire. His way is to dance. He is an artist therefore a free spirit. He is also young and has been very sheltered so those who recognize his genius also understand that he is passionate and has his heart in the right place...in a love space for all.

That final subtitle really p$#@&** me off ! I totally HATE it when celebrities are quoted out of context to further some despicable hidden agenda. In a recent interview Sergei went that extra mile to stress that he is not a homophobe but that he didn't like it when some (please note: "some") male ballet dancers come across as effeminate. He actually said when watching R&J, he wanted to see Romeo; NOT Juliet and Juliet. I couldn't agree with him more. But to attribute sweeping statements such as this last remark to him is narrow and sick. Shame on you AFP.

Of course, Sergey is closer to Russia than to West. His soul is Russian and looks for the uppest sence. I am glad that now he is Russian citizen. He's become so handsome and relaxed here.

It is not what he said, he did not criticize “gay dancers” but said that there was already ballerina on the stage and that was enough.
The interpretation just shows that the dancers are automatically seen as homo by the people, that’s for me the problem. That’s quite a pity.
