Google Cartographer is a system that provides real-time simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) in 2D and 3D across multiple platforms and sensor configurations. In this video an Rplidar is attached to a PiCar and moved manually in a closed room. As the robot traverses the uncertainty of portions of the map decreases as the laser scans new locations, and the algorithm is able to provide an accurate map of its surroundings while tracking the robots pose. The algorithm was adjusted to use Rplidar laser scans for map building and pose estimates.
