What a great idea for a project! I like it. Suggestion for v.2 perhaps consider a gyroscope installed in the mannequin's torso. I remember playing with an electric motor driven gyroscope when I was a kid. It was quite small but very powerful. I can imagine all sorts of circus tricks you could perform if you could enable axial stability in the mannequin. Good luck.
