Another Update - Per ECFMG, In order to make life easier for most IMGS, for the first few years, even if your country does not have wfme accreditation after 2024, you can still apply with pre 2024 criteria (WDOMS Post 2024 + Sponsor Notes). Similarly for the first few years post 2024, even if your country gets WFME accredited, the individual medical school must also be in WDOMS + Have Sponsor Notes.

With due respect, there are several misstatements. If country's national accrediting body is not approved by 2024, students can still apply and get ECFMG certified. However, their ERAS profile will show that they are coming from a country that doesn't have WFME accreditation. And form 186 registration doesn't protect you against it.

If NMC get recognised, one advantage we will have is that we can be now in any medical college in India and still get form 186. But before that it wasn't case.

Hello doctor manik, I have few questions for you, expecting ur response. Can we pursue usmle journey after post graduation here in india? Will PG degree have any impact on our overall CV? Does duration of PG in our home country count as continuous medical education or gap year?

Do you mean ECFMG REGISTRATION done before 2024 will have regular process, without the WFME rule or do we have to finish Step1, step2, OET and to be graduated before 2024.Please clarify

My only question now is: if the accreditation body of a country is being recognised until say December 2026, and I am already in a med school in that country but will graduate in June 2027, can I still apply for certification if I am ECFMG registered?

I’m sorry if this question was asked before but I’m still confused after watching the video. My country’s medical council is recognised by WFME, but that agency still hasn’t accredited my university. Will this still affect my application for ECFMG certification?
