Marshall Gilkes feat. by WDR BIG BAND - Always Forward

Marshall Gilkes (Posaune) spielt gemeinsam mit der WDR BIG BAND seine Komposition "Always Forward". Produziert im September 2017 im WDR Studio 4 / Köln.

Marshall Gilkes gehört zu den Ton angebenden Posaunisten der jungen Generation. Dass er aber nicht nur als Posaunist, sondern auch als Big Band-Komponist außerordentliche Fähigkeiten besitzt, demonstriert er auf seiner neuen CD KÖLN (Alternate Side Records ASR 008). Seine Arrangements, die im Januar 2014 bei einer „Radio Session“ im Studio im Kölner Funkhaus zusammen mit der WDR Big Band Köln entstanden sind, präsentieren Gilkes als virtuosen Instrumentalisten und als Bandleader und Komponisten mit einem feinsinnigen Gespür für zeitgenössischen Jazz. Es war zugleich das Abschiedsprojekt für Marshall Gilkes, der nach vier Jahren die WDR Big Band verlassen hat, um in New York seine Solokarriere zu verfolgen.
