I went to Ajanta 30 years ago. India is stunning to see and high adventure to explore. Don't miss your opportunity to hike all over this incredible country while you are still young.

If anyone were to propose doing this today he would be thought crazy. This must have taken centuries to build. And, it was done with hand tools, apparently. Absolutely amazing. Thank you.

Fortunately the caves covered in forest were not on known routes and escaped pillage of islamic rulers. This is one of the largest cave architecture of ancient india.

It's almost 2500 yr old, being made under the patnorage of vakataka King in Gupta age. There are total of 29 caves of which 25 were used as vihars(residential) caves and 4 were chatiya (prayer hall) for Buddhist monk. Mrunal painting on the wall are jataka tales are crafted through fresco painting style but there is absence of blue colour. this cave is on stiff slope, also Buddhist art was on culmination.

I was in awe when I saw Ajanta caves. Both the carvings & paintings on the walls are extremely beautiful. I was wondering how beautiful they might've been when they were built. A monument which is to be compulsorily seen in one's life time.

These fresco and mural painting, rock cut architecture can made anyone surprised as they were made during 2nd century BC- 5th century AD at a time when no JCBs, machines were available. ❤️❤️

Truly Amazing that Ancient builders were able to carve out a Temples out of a Rock or mountain, its even more amazing that they were also able to do intricate patterns, designs and statues on these rocks.

thousands of foreigner tourists come to see these amazing places...Ellora and Ajanta every year but comparatively very less Indians. I think we lack sense of appreciation.
